They offer a peek into your future. They also tell you your character, persons you are likely to be compatible with and how you will sail through the next 24-hours. All you need to tell them are your date, time and place of birth.
Even as a recent scientific report has trashed astrology, the sites have seen the maximum hits by city’s young and happening.
Take stock analyst Arjun Dutt for instance. The concept of “chilling out for this 23-year-old means shaking a leg at the disc and surfing the Internet. And the sites on astrology are his favourites.
“Even though it’s for a brief time, I must go to these sites at least once in a day. It has almost become a habit, Dutt said. Jataka/Kundali (birth chart), Mani (gem prescriptions), Guna Milan (horoscope matching), Saamudrika Shastra (Palmistry) and Varsha Phala (annual chart) are some of the services provided by the astrology sites that have proved to be a huge hit for the 16 to 30.
“Younger people are gradually getting addicted to astrology websites like www.astrospeak.com of Indiatimes. It’s mainly because today’s kids know much more about astrology than we used to do at their age, said Gitanjali Elizabeth Mordecai, a leading numerologist.
“Younger people visit our site more frequently than the older ones to know about their horoscope and get their kundali, said Hemang Pandit, CEO of an astrology site.
Psychologists too agree on the issue. “This is true that the younger generation is getting more and more dependent on astrology, numerology and the like. It results out of a feeling of insecurity, said Dr Saibal Roy, a city based psychologist.
